On April 13, 2002 I was hit head on by a drunk driver which lead me to question, “Why am I here?!”. Have you ever asked yourself that question? It was something I struggled with for a while after my accident and I want to share with you what I came to know. Here are the life lessons I learned from my car wreck that I still carry with me today!
I can’t wait to share this experience with you and really hope that it encourages you to break through your fear, go for the things you want, and overcome “someday syndrome”. But most of all I hope it encourages you to grow in your faith, AND share your faith!
Click above or below to listen to Episode 9 of The Forward In Faith Podcast where I’ll be sharing all about my accident and what it taught me. We’ll also be talking about Heaven and the many misconceptions that people believe about how we get there, four steps to share your faith with others, and what happened when I got to talk to the people who stood by my side after my accident.
If you’d rather read than listen…here are the 4 Steps you can use to share your faith and the bible verses to back it up. First we looked at John 5:13, “These things are written…so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
Step 1: We Need a Savior! What God Demands and Sees:
These verses allow us to see that God’s standards are high! He demands PERFECTION and we can’t do that on our own!
Leviticus 19:2- “Be holy (or perfect) because I the Lord your God am holy (or perfect).”
Romans 3:23- “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Romans 6:23- “The wages of sin is death.”
Step 2: Man Made Remedies:
We try on our own to get to make things right…
The “I’ll try harder” ladder.
“I can balance my sins with being good”
“But look how much better I am than ________”
“I’d like to just hide and pretend the problem isn’t there.”
Step 3: The Great Exchange:
No matter how hard we try, we just can’t do it and fall short every day. We need a savior!
John 3:16- “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
John 8:46- “Can any of you prove me guilty of sin?”
Isaiah 53:6- “The Lord laid on him the iniquity (sin) of us all.”
Step 4: The Gift of Faith:
This gift is not yours because you earned it. It is GIVEN to you by faith alone!
Romans 6:23- “The wages of sin is death, But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Ephesians 2:8-9- “By grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not form yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
Romans 10:17- “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ.”
